BC to Examine Pricing for Carbon Offsets
The BC government announced it will examine the pricing model for the Pacific Carbon Trust (PCT) and make any necessary changes. The government will evaluate the $25 per tonne paid for carbon offsets to PCT and evaluate what PCT retains as a surplus from buying and selling offsets and what that money is used for, as well as what the right level of overhead should be for PCT. The PCT is a crown corporation that was established in 2008 to deliver BC-based greenhouse gas offsets, to help clients meet their carbon reduction goals and to support the growth of BC’s low-carbon economy.
